Dhaka — The Post and Telecommunications Minister has stressed the need for the sector to be more diligent in improving the quality of customer service. ‘Everyone concerned including mobile phone operators should be more active in this regard.'

He was addressing a virtual function as the chief guest on the occasion of the inauguration of GSMA's Mobile Industry Tax Study.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman forwarded the function as the Guest of Honor.

Julian Gorman of GSMA Team Sirajul Islam, Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, Afzal Hossain, BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder, National Board of Revenue Member Pradyut Kumar Sarkar, GSMA Team Officer Jens Baker, and AMTAB Secretary-General SM Farhad spoke.

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said that digital connectivity is the highway of the digital age. Digitization is the lifeline of Bangladesh's progress. In continuation of this, the telecommunication sector is the main issue of private to state life.

Referring to as a dream of the nation, he said the initial work of building Digital Bangladesh was started by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from 1996 to 2001. Following the announcement of Digital Bangladesh in 2008, Bangladesh has witnessed unimaginable success in the last 12 years since 2009.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is going through an important time, Mustafa Jabbar said that the modern version of technology 5G has been tested in 2018. is the technology of the fourth industrial age. We have completed all the preparations to launch the 5G service by 2021.

The minister said the next day is the data age. The demand for data services is increasing compared to voice services.

He highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to make the internet accessible, saying, “In 2008, the price of one Mbps internet was Tk 27,000 but we have reduced it to Tk 285.
