Bangladesh: 98% people covered with 4G

Mobile operators will have to expand 3G and 4G services in certain areas within a specified period as per the license obligation. The BTRC regularly monitoring the matter.

Dhaka: Nearly 98 % of the country's population is covered by networks, according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (). According to a statistic from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), at the end of June this year, the total number of sites in the country were 41,866.

The number of 4G sites across the country is 42,318. At a recent public hearing, the company's director-general of systems and services, Brigadier General. Nasim Parvez said that at present 97.8 % of the total population of the country is enjoying the latest 4G and 92.7 % people are enjoying 3G.

Nasim Parvez said: “Even after receiving specific complaints about the network in any area, BTRC technically verified it and gave necessary instructions to the operators.

Note that there are currently four mobile phone operators operating in the country.

These four mobile phone operators got 11 lakh 40 thousand new subscribers last June. With this, the mobile phone subscriber connection stands at 17 crores 64 lakh 10 thousand.
