Think before you post anything on Facebook: Palak

He called on parents and teachers to be more vigilant in keeping children and adolescents safe on the Internet.

Dhaka — Referring to social media as a popular platform at present, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) said, “To keep ourselves safe and secure, we need to post on considering psyche of children and youth.”

The state minister was speaking as the chief guest while joining the closing ceremony of the online Talent Award Competition-2021 for children organized by the National Children's Task Force (NCTF) on Friday.

He further said that the use of the internet in our country is increasing day by day. Nowadays the internet has become our basic need.

He called on parents and teachers to be more vigilant in keeping children and adolescents safe on the Internet.

Mentioning the responsibility of parents to see what their children are doing on the internet, he said teachers can play an important role in making the students aware of safe internet use in the classroom.

He noted that as a result of using the internet, now it is possible to bring everything on the digital platform. Students are able to study through free lessons online from home.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of Save the Children's Child Rights Governance and Child Protection Sector, Muhammad Mushabberul Islam, Executive Officer of Bagerhat Upazila and Sushma Das, General Secretary of Happy Dreams Foundation, among others, spoke on the occasion.

The closing ceremony was attended by 145 virtual children and youths from 64 districts of the country.

At the end of the ceremony, the names of the winners of various competitions were announced.
