Digital connectivity is vehicle of future civilization development: Bangladesh Telecom Minister Jabbar

Dhaka — The Posts and Telecommunications Minister has termed connectivity as a vehicle for the development of civilization in the future.

He said there is no alternative to acquiring digital skills to meet the challenges of digital technology in the future, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and IoT.

The Minister called upon the government as well as Rotarians to come forward to build a digital skills creation movement to grow the new generation as a tool for establishing a knowledge-based digital equity-society.

Mustafa Jabbar made the call in a speech as the chief guest at a virtual event organized by the Rotary Club of Anand Dhara, Dhaka in the capital on Saturday night to mark the 7th Chartered Day.

Rotarian Barrister Motasim Billah Farooqui, TIM Nurul Kabir, Sakina Rahman, FM Alamgir, Rubayet Hossain and Farid Alam Newton spoke on the occasion presided over by Rotarian Tareq Bukhari.

“Services are the religion of humanity,” he said.

‘There can be no greater peace than to serve. Changing the lives of helpless people through services is a very important and great task in the current situation. ‘

He said: digital has gained worldwide recognition today. Prime Minister is working towards building a better Bangladesh by establishing a knowledge-based digital equality society by 20141. She (Sheikh Hasina) is also moving forward with the vision of what Bangladesh will be like in 2071 and 2100. It cannot be implemented unless the future generation is made capable.

“We want to build 65 % of our young people as people in the digital age,” said Mustafa Jabbar, the inventor of the Bangla language on computers. “Everyone will need digital skills to meet the challenge.”

Also, the speakers emphasized the need for Rotarians to adopt new action plans in the service of humanity and for Rotarians to play a stronger role in the Corona (Covid-19) situation.
