Bangladesh: Ministry of Commerce issues legal notice to Evlay

Dhaka: The Commerce Ministry has issued a show-cause notice to asking why legal action will not be taken against the Valley.

The notice was sent to Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin and Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Rassell on Monday with the aim of protecting customers and merchants and preventing a negative impact on the digital commerce sector.

The Commerce Ministry also wanted to know the company's business practices in the notice. The notice has been given till August 1. Of these, six must be reported to Evaly.

At the outset of the notice, a total of Tk407 crore was paid to customers and merchants till March 14, while Evaly had only Tk65 crore, an explanation for having current assets. Whether Evaly has the rest of the money. If there is, you have to give detailed information about it, if not, you have to give a clear explanation about it.

Addressing E-Valley, the Commerce Ministry said, “Recently, it has been noticed that Evaly is not delivering products on time even with advance payment from the customer.”

Evaly is also not paying the merchants from whom the goods were taken. As a result of these activities, a large number of buyers and sellers are at risk of financial loss.
