Dhaka: The E-commerce companies have to deliver the goods to the buyers within 5 days if they are in the same city area after taking the advance payment. In the case of different cities or villages, the delivery time will be 10 days.
The central digital commerce cell of the commerce ministry has issued public notice warning buyers and sellers. It has been said that recently, there are reports of various scams being perpetrated by various e-commerce companies.
To address this problem, the government has already issued the Digital Commerce Management Guideline-2021. According to this guideline, in case of advance procurement, provision has been made to deliver the goods within a maximum of five days after receipt of a purchase order if the buyer and seller are in the same city and within a maximum of 10 days if located in different city or village.
Besides, in the interest of customer protection, Bangladesh Bank has instructed to release money from the payment gateway after delivery of goods. In this case, online payment is relatively safe.
In this situation, the Ministry of Commerce has requested the general public to purchase goods from the company conducting digital commerce with caution.
At the same time, in case of deviation from the ‘Digital Commerce Management Guidelines 2021' in the conduct of the business of digital commerce organizations, other legal measures including the closure of the website of the concerned organization will be taken.
