Bangladesh PM’s cash assistance to be available in MFS

Dhaka — The country's four Mobile Financial Services () will be integrated with the government's Application Programming Interface () to ensure greater transparency in the provision of cash assistance announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Through which cash assistance will be sent directly to the destitute and poor-listed families.

The four mobile banking institutions are BRAC Bank's Bikash, Postal Service Nagad, Dutch Bangla Bank's Rocket and Rupali Bank's SureCash. This information has been known from a source in the Ministry of Finance.

Of this, Tk450 crore has been announced for financial assistance at the rate of two and a half thousand taka per person for day laborers, transport workers, small traders, and shipping workers. It is learned that this money will be given as a gift for Eid-ul-Adha to 3 million poor families across the country.

The incentive package announced by the government also includes Tk150 crore for conducting special OMS activities at 813 centers from July 25 to August 7 to help low-income people in urban areas.

Special allocation of Tk100 crore in favor of the Deputy Commissioners for providing food assistance in response to the request of the public at No. National helpline 333 To provide loan assistance (at 4 % interest) through Rural Employment Bank and PKSF for financing employment generation activities in rural areas, an additional allocation of Tk3,200 crore has been made.

One thousand crore rupees has been allocated to provide working capital loan assistance at 4% interest through banks for the payment of salaries and allowances to the employees of hotels, motels and theme parks in the tourism sector.

Earlier, the government provided financial assistance to 31 lakh poor families affected by the second wave of Corona epidemic. Before Eid-ul-Fitr, each family received cash assistance of Tk 2,500 through mobile financial services.

On the other hand, in 2020, the Prime Minister also gave cash assistance of Tk2,500 crore to 5 million poor families and vulnerable people across the country.
