100% citizen services in Bangladesh to go online by 2025: Zunaid Ahmed Palak

The state minister made the remarks while addressing a function organized as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the Bangladesh Chapter Office of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) here on Friday night.

Dhaka — The State Minister for (ICT) of has said that by 2025, 100% of citizen services will be brought online.

At the same time, 30 lakh IT and ITES professionals will be produced. Already, various government services are being provided online to 6 million people through more than 7,000 digital centers.

The state minister made the remarks while addressing a function organized as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the Bangladesh Chapter Office of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) here on Friday night.

Palak said the government has formulated a strategy titled ‘Mission  5 Billion' for the IT industry with the aim of achieving US  5 billion growth by 2025. He said ICT exports have already earned 1 billion.

He said that by 2025, the mission will divide the IT industry into 6 sub-segments to achieve 5 billion strategies. These are high-tech manufacturing, software applications and services, BPO, networks, data centers, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure management, e-commerce and digital finance, and freelancing.

He also said that a draft of Made in Bangladesh-ICT Industry Strategy has been prepared for the production of digital devices in the country.

The state minister said the payment system has been digitized, which has led to the rapid growth of mobile financial services and e-commerce. In April 2021, the mobile transaction was Tk 63,479 crore. The growth of e-commerce is about 166 %.

He said the government has set up 8,000 Sheikh Russell Digital Labs in various educational institutions to make the present and future generations of the country fit for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centers are being set up in 64 districts. Besides, Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology, the establishment of various University Centers of Excellence, National Strategy for Robotics, IoT are being formulated. 39 high-tech parks are being established in the country.

Palak said a draft of Made in Bangladesh-ICT Industry Strategy has been formulated for the production of digital devices in the country.

He also said that the government is providing necessary policy support and incentives to provide assistance to the private sector.

He said that IIBA would play a strong role in taking the global meaning of professionals and spreading knowledge and would make Bangladesh known to the world as a profession of the future.

Later, the Minister of State announced the inauguration of the Bangladesh Chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis.
