Banglalink CEO Erik Aas is the new president of AMTOB

Dhaka — Erik Aas the of the telecom operator has become the new president of the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of (), an association of mobile operators in the country.

He has been elected as the new president following the decision of the outgoing president Mahtab Uddin Ahmed to resign from mobile operator Robi. Erik will replace Mahtab Uddin as the current president until March 2022.

At a virtual meeting on Wednesday, AMTOB board members welcomed Robi's acting CEO and Chief Financial Officer M Riaz Rashid as the board's director and thanked Mahtab Uddin Ahmed.

“The telecom sector has been making a significant contribution to the digitization and development of the country's overall infrastructure,” said Erik, president of AMTOB.

“On behalf of AMTOB, we will continue to work with governments, regulators, policymakers, and other partners to accelerate the development of the telecom sector and the country as a whole.”

Yasir Azman, Vice President, AMTOB, said that by working with the regulators in this sector, they will be able to identify the existing problems and contribute to accelerating the journey of implementing Digital Bangladesh.
