Bangladesh mobile operator Robi chief Mahtab Uddin Ahmed quits 

He wrote in a Facebook post that he has decided not to renew his job contract with Robi. His journey with Robi is going to end on October 31. Until this time he will be on official leave. He is currently living in Australia with his family.

Dhaka: Mobile phone operator 's managing director and chief executive has decided not to stay with the operator. He announced the decision in a Facebook post on Thursday (August 5th).

He wrote in a Facebook post that he has decided not to renew his job contract with Robi. His journey with Robi is going to end on October 31. Until this time he will be on official leave. He is currently living in Australia with his family.

“I have been away from my family for the last six years,” he added. Now I can give more time to the family. He also mentioned that he has worked in many big organizations in his career of more than 30 years.

Meanwhile, a press release from Robi said that Robi's chief financial officer M Riaz Rashid will be acting chief executive in addition to his duties.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Mahtab Uddin Ahmed for establishing Robi as the top digital service provider in the country,” said Thayaparan Sangrapillai, Chairman of Robi's Board of Directors.

The notification also mentioned the various contributions of Mahtab Uddin Ahmed to establish Robi as a leading mobile operator.

Incidentally, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed was the first Bangladeshi to take charge of a multinational company. He took over as the managing director and chief executive of the operator on November 1, 2016. As such, his journey is coming to an end after completing 5 years of service in Robi. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the operator. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer of the operator.
