Dhaka — The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said that at present the income of the information and communication technology sector in the country is 1 billion.
He stated that Bangladesh ranks second in the world in freelancing.
He made the remarks at a discussion titled ‘Cultivating a Talent Ecosystem for Inclusive Digital Prosperity' at the Digital Talent Regional Summit on Thursday. Technology company Huawei organized the event.
Mentioning that now is the right time to create digital talent along with digitalization, the state minister said Bangladesh is moving forward by fulfilling all the conditions of being a developing country despite the Corona epidemic.
Palak said 39 high-tech parks are being set up across the country to further enrich the country's IT sector. Specialized labs are being set up in 135 universities across the country to make students proficient in frontier technology in the face of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In addition, 64 Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centers are being set up to build skilled human resources in the technology sector.
The meeting was informed that Huawei will help to make one lakh young people digitally proficient in the next five years in South Asian countries including Nepal. To this end, the organization will work with South Asian governments, universities, and industry stakeholders.
With the theme ‘Cultivating a Talent Ecosystem for Inclusive Digital Prosperity', the summit discusses how to fill the digital skills gap and influence digital transformation in post-epidemic economic restructuring and how to engage young people more.
Ministers and secretaries of the concerned ministries of the three countries, UNESCO Bangladesh, teachers, and experienced people in the ICT sector expressed their views in this regard.
