Dhaka: The Ministry of Land has taken steps to provide digital land services to the citizens without a National Identity Card (NID) and to verify the authenticity of the application of the bona fide land service recipient online to properly provide digital land services.
Land Ministry signed an agreement with the ‘Office of the Registrar General, Birth & Death Registration', under the Local Government Division in the conference room of the Ministry on Wednesday, today for the purpose. Apart from the NID data, Birth and Death registration data will also be used in land service management from now on.
Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the signing ceremony of the contract organized following the proper hygiene rules.
Land Ministry Additional Secretary (Development) Pradip Kumar Das and Registrar General, Birth and Death of Registration Office Manik Lal Banik signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at the ceremony which was presided over by Land Secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman PAA.
Paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyrs killed on August 15, the land minister said the use of Birth and Death registration data in the land service system, besides NID data, would enable citizens without NID to avail land services. “For various reasons, many citizens of the country may not have a NID card, so we have taken this step,” he added.
Saifuzzaman Chowdhury further said that shortly a similar initiative will be taken for expatriate Bangladeshi to provide them land services only for passport verification. One of our goals is the inclusion of all citizens of the country in digital land service.
Land Secretary said that all measures have been taken to ensure the security and confidentiality of the data of the citizens with utmost importance.
LGD Additional Secretary Mustakim Billah Faruqui, Registrar General Manik Lal Banik, and Land Ministry Additional Secretary Pradip Kumar Das spoke at the event among others.
Land Ministry Additional Secretary (Law) Muhammad Salehuddin and other officials of the ‘Ministry of Land' and ‘Office of the Registrar General of Births and Deaths' were present at the signing ceremony.
It is to be noted that, a link has been established with the e-Mutation system of Land Ministry and ‘prottoyon.gov.bd‘ system of ‘Office of the Registrar General, Birth & Death Registration' to verify a citizen's inheritance and other certificates by Application Programming Interface (API). It will enable the Land Ministry to verify the accuracy of the applicant's information in any land service case.
