Bangladesh: Public library’s books to go online

Each e-library is arranged in such a way that the reader can read the book of his choice through virtual access to the library from all types of mobiles except computers.

Dhaka's 71 public and 2 private library books can be read through computer or mobile, for this these libraries are being digitized. This information was given at a virtual review meeting of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) department and the Ministry of Culture (MoC).

The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology presided over the meeting. State Minister for Culture KM Khalid, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Parthapratim Dev, Director-General of Library Department Abu Bakkar Siddique and Director (Training) of Bangladesh Computer Council Md. Enamul Kabir was there at the conference.

It was informed at the meeting that there is a separate digital management system for each library. Where e-books will be arranged. There will be separate children and Mujib Corner.

Each e-library is arranged in such a way that the reader can read the book of his choice through virtual access to the library from all types of mobiles except computers.

It was further informed at the meeting that the will provide Radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology for wireless technology internet connection, IP phone, departmental libraries by converting libraries to digital by connecting them to LAN network.
