Bangladesh IT budget allocation increases by Tk 690 crore in FY 2021-22

Allocation of Tk 1721 crore has been proposed for Bangladesh’s Information and Technology Department (ICTD) for the development of the country's IT sector for the financial year 2021-22

Dhaka — An allocation of Tk 1721 crore has been proposed for Bangladesh's Information and Technology Department (ICTD) for the development of the country's IT sector for the financial year 2021-22. Tk 1415 crore was allocated in the last budget. Later in the revised budget, it came down to Tk 1031 crore.

The size of the proposed budget for the financial year 2021-22 is 6,03,681 crores. Which is 17.5 % of GDP. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presented the proposed budget for the next financial year in Parliament on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, the cabinet approved the proposed budget for the new financial year at a special meeting chaired by Prime Minister at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

This is the 50th budget of the country, the 21st budget of the Awami League government, and the third budget of the current finance minister. In the budget for the next fiscal year 2020-21, various steps are being taken to tackle the post-corona virus economy.

Analyzing the budget speeches published on the website of the Ministry of Finance, it has been seen that the use of information technology has been emphasized in almost every sector.
