Digital land databank soon for Bangladesh

Dhaka — A digital land databank will be set up by finding out the actual location and accounts of all classes of government land.

Pilot activities have already been undertaken to create software in this regard. Tenders will be called soon under the Char Development Settlement Project (CDSP).

Asked about this, Additional Secretary (Field Administration) of the Land Ministry Pradeep Kumar Das said on Sunday, “A digital databank of all types of government land will be set up so that government land cannot be misappropriated or misused.”

Then timely policies will be formulated to ensure optimal use of these lands. With such thoughts in mind, the Land Minister and the Secretary have given the necessary instructions. We are working accordingly. ‘

He said that once the work is completed, the central database will be renamed as ‘Land Bank'. There are also plans to develop an ‘app' in the future.

In that case, anyone can get out of government land in any part of the country by entering the app through a mobile phone.

According to ministry sources, in addition to the land of Khas Khatian, the lands of abandoned, abandoned and Sairat Mahals under the government will also be included in the digital database.

For this, the district administration has started work as a pilot program first. Once the Noakhali district pilot project is completed within a specified period, it will be included in all district networks in phases.

Noakhali district told that a pilot project with three Upazilas is going to be started under the CDS project. The Upazilas are Subarnachar and Companyganj in Noakhali and Sandwip in . All classes of government land in these three Upazilas will be included in a database.

More Upazila information can be added to that database later. The latest software with such capabilities will be prepared.

The entire work will be awarded to an experienced organization through tender following PPR. He said steps have been taken to call for tenders soon.

Sources said the CDS project was scheduled to expire in June next year but would be extended due to the Corona situation. If the project is successful, the way of eviction or misuse of government land will be stopped.

In addition, senior officials of all levels of land administration, including the Ministry of Land, can verify the ownership of government land by entering the database.

It will be easy to check the list of government lands by entering the respective mouzas, especially during namazari. As a result, no one will have the opportunity to register government land in the name of a person.

It is learned that the land ministry has already brought the accounts of the vested and abandoned list properties from the district administration to the ministry and saved them.

This information will be added to the central database. As per the previous decision, the abandoned property will be included in the Khas ledger No. 1 and it will be released as per the Khas land settlement policy.
