Continuing with earlier announcement on 7th Pay Commission, Narendra Modi government has said that it has extended 7th Pay Commission benefit to teachers of all centrally funded deemed universities. Now, the hike would be anywhere between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000. Human Resources and Development Minister said that teachers of all centrally funded deemed universities and 43 central universities would get the benefits of the , which was cleared by the Union Cabinet on June 28.

7.51 lakh teachers will get benefits of the 7th Pay Commission as well as assistant and associate professors of 329 state universities and 12,912 colleges from January 1, 2016,” the minister said after the Cabinet meeting. He said the hike would be anywhere between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000.

The implementation of the pay commission recommendations will cost the government an estimated Rs 30,748 crore per year. This is slightly more than the Rs 29,300 crore per year projected by the pay commission report. The extra Rs 1,448 crore accounts for the payment of allowances that the government has decided to retain against the advice of the pay commission.

The decision to retain these allowances was taken keeping in view the specific functional requirements of Railways and scientific departments like Space and Atomic . It is likely to benefit about 1 lakh employees working in these departments.

After many back and forth finally central government employees is likely to get pay hike of 17%. This is more than what 7th Pay Commission had recommended. The government has decided to settle on this amount and a mere formality now remains to get it passed before the National Anomaly Committee, said a government.

CG employees who have been waiting for good news can expect a 17 per cent raise in their basic minimum pay. If one calculates the hike percentage then it would mean that the basic pay would go up from Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000.

The hike of 17 per cent would also mean that the fitment factor would raised from 2.57 to 3 times. Officials who have been deliberating on this matter are convinced that the fitment factor would have to rise and the basic pay be hiked to Rs 21,000.

Officials would take these decisions quickly. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has already agreed that the issue of pay hike should be considered. He had even ordered the setting up of an NAC to look into the anomalies rising out of the 7th Pay Commission. The proposal would be placed before him and it would be immediately sent to the NAC and then to the Department of Expenditure.
