According to reports, the company has already started prepping up to test a new search filter called ‘Search filter chips'. The new search chip search filter will add a new set of options at the top of the Google Drive interface giving users the option to narrow down the search based on file type, last modification date, users associated with the particular file.

At present Google Drive already has search filters that give users the option to specify their search based on word, date, time, contact, and more.
