Dhaka — Despite the Corona epidemic, has achieved great success in exporting consumer electronics products. In the first nine months of the current financial year (July 20-March 21), the volume of electronics exports increased by almost eight and a half times over the same period of the previous year to $12.38 million.

The country's electronics giant alone accounted for about 67.21 % of total exports. According to the (EPB), Bangladesh's Consumer Electronics Products Export List includes refrigerators, freezers, LED televisions, air conditioners, washing machines, blenders, rice cookers, gas stoves, compressors, inductors, cookers, fans.

According to EPB's product-based data, the country's consumer electronics exports generated about 12.2 million between July and March '21.

During the same period of the last financial year (2019-20), the export income of this sector was about 14 lakh 38 thousand. As such, in the first nine months of the current financial year, the country's exports of electronics and home appliance products have increased eight and a half times.

EPB's data shows that Walton, the country's top electronics company, is playing a key role in boosting the electronics sector's export earnings as well as making the industry a potential new export sector.

AHM Ahsan, vice-chairman of EPB, said: “On other electronics manufacturers like Walton to give special importance to export trade.”

He added:  “There is a potential market for Bangladeshi consumer electronics in the world. The domestic electronics brand also has the capacity to offer the latest technology and high-quality products at competitive prices in the global market.”

Regarding the future plans to expand the export market of domestic electronics products and create new markets, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited Managing Director Engineer said, “Walton has taken ‘Vision 2030‘ targeting the international market of consumer electronics. By 2030, Walton will become one of the best global brands in the world”

“A roadmap has been prepared with a combination of long-term and short-term plans to meet the target. Walton is also expanding its export trade by making products under the brand names of different countries of the world.”
