Dhaka — A 14-year-old boy named Mamun has committed suicide after he did not get money to buy internet data for playing ‘Free Fire Game' on his mobile phone.

The occurrence took place at noon on Friday (May 21) at the deceased's grandfather's house in Upadi village of Matlab Dakshin Upazila in Chandpur.

According to police and family sources of the deceased, Mamun, the grandson of Bachchu Gazi of Ali Gazi Bari in Ward No. 8 of Upadi North Union of the Upazila, came to visit his grandfather's house with his mother on the occasion of the Eid holiday.
At noon on the day of the incident, Mamun asked his mother for money to buy data on his mobile phone.

When mother told him to pay later, Mamun became angry and started insisting on money. But when his mother told him to pay later, Mamun arrogantly left the house.

Shortly afterward, mother Kamala Begum entered Mamun's house while she was busy with household chores. He later closed the door and committed suicide by tying a rope around his neck.

According to several people in the house, Mamun, who came to visit on the occasion of the Eid holidays, used to play mobile games with the boys of the area. Many boys used to sit together and play this game on the internet, which is known as the ‘Free Fire Game‘.

Mamun's grandfather said that Mamun's father committed suicide by hanging himself three years ago. From then on, his daughter Kamala Begum took a job in a garment factory in Dhaka. From then on, he was carrying on a family with three grandchildren.

Matlab South Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Mohiuddin Mia said: “the body of the deceased was recovered after inspecting the spot. He was later sent to Chandpur morgue for autopsy. An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard.”
