Dhaka — Bangladeshi multinational tech brand Walton to start exporting products to Indian Ocean island Maldives with air conditioners.

Despite the Corona epidemic, the brand has shown great success in exporting electronics and products made in .

One country after another is being added to Walton's export list. The latest addition is the South Asian country the Maldives.

Walton will send refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, , etc. to the Maldives in phases.

On this occasion, Walton signed an agreement with Runfone Pvt. Ltd., one of the top companies in the Maldives, on Tuesday. As a result of the agreement, Runfone will be able to sell and service all types of Walton brand products in the country.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Walton by Edward Kim, President of the Department of International Marketing (IBU). Mohammad Fatih and Mohammad Safiul, the owners of Runfone Pvt.

Shiruzimath Samir, High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh, SM Mahbubul Alam, and Nishat Tasnim Shuchi, Directors of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited, Deputy Managing Director Humayun Kabir, and Deputy Managing Director Humayun Kabir was present at the virtual event titled ‘Distributorship Agreement Signing'. SM Mahbubul Alam said that although the Maldives is a small country, its per capita income is much higher. The Maldives is one of the major tourist attractions in the world. We are happy to start a Walton brand in the country. We believe that Walton will be the brand of choice in the Maldives as well as in the market share of all products in Bangladesh.

Edward Kim said: “the export of Walton products is constantly increasing in the world market. In Corona, too, Walton surpassed the total exports in 2020 in the first three months of this year. In this context, Walton's international marketing department has set a target of exporting products worth Tk 1,000 crore by June 2024. IBU members are working on a comprehensive plan to achieve the goal.”

Mohammad Fatih, the owner of Runfone Pvt Ltd, said at the event that they have already imported Walton brand ACs from Bangladesh.

“Soon they will buy refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, home appliances. He hoped that Walton would be very popular among the buyers of the Maldives for the international quality products made in Bangladesh and their sincere service.”, he added.
