H&R Block appoints Tiffany Scalzitti Monroe as Chief People Officer

Monroe will assume responsibility for all human resources functions

H&R Block has appointed Tiffany Scalzitti Monroe as its new chief people officer, effective March 5, 2018. Monroe will assume responsibility for all human resources functions, such as organizational and performance management, talent development, and ensuring the workforce has both the people and organizational capabilities to enable and ultimately deliver company strategy. Her responsibilities include on- and off-boarding Block’s tax season workforce of nearly 80,000 tax professionals.

Monroe most recently served at U.S. Foods, headquartered near Chicago in Rosemont, Ill. as the chief human resources officer. While there, she focused strongly on talent and culture development, including instituting a formal talent assessment process, formal development programs, and redesigning the company’s incentive programs to better attract and retain great talent.

Prior to her position at U.S. Foods, Monroe served at Corporation for 15 years where she held a variety of leadership positions. Her most recent role was as the senior vice president for human resources at Target Canada, headquartered in Ontario, where she was credited with developing an innovative program to better recruit top talent, providing development opportunities, and implementing a comprehensive total compensation program.

Monroe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and a juris doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.

“Tiffany is a highly talented and transformational senior leader. There’s no job more important than ensuring our people have the skills, capabilities and developmental opportunities to do their best work,” said Jeff Jones, H&R Block president & chief executive officer. “Tiffany will bring passion, energy and expertise to an enterprise-wide focus on developing our people in ways that best deliver the company’s strategy,” Jones said.

“I am excited to be joining such an iconic, well-respected brand,” Monroe said. “People are the foundation of H&R Block’s success, and I look forward to working with the company’s talented and diverse workforce to continue building a strong culture focused on driving the company’s priorities forward.”
