Rajasthan to recruit 35,000 posts of third grade teachers

Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education has conducted Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET), 2018 popularly known as REET 2018 to recruit 35,000 posts of third grade teachers across the state. REET 2018 was held across 2,600 examination centres in the state. REET 2018 exam was held in two sessions, the first session was to check eligibility of primary teachers from classes I to V and the second session was for teachers of classes VI to VIII. In the morning session, a news went viral on social media about REET 2018 paper leak. However, officials have refuted the claim.

To ensure that no untoward incident happens and REET 2018 gets conducted in a smooth and transparent manner, the state government had made several arrangement like use of video surveillance camera along with police presence and installation of mobile jammers in every exam centre. The official informed that adequate arrangements had been made to prevent any kind of imitation through electronic devices including mobile, bluetooth at the examination centres. As many as five thousand CCTV cameras had been installed at the REET examination centers. All the examination centers were being monitored through CCTV cameras. All these were done by District Examination Steering Committees which was specially formed for conducting the REET 2018 examination.

The REET examination was started in 2016 by Rajasthan government. A successful candidate in this examination will not have to go through interview process for primary and upper primary teachers. They will be directly hired on the basis of REET 2018 score. According to reports, in the first REET exam about 9 lakh candidates had appeared and about 15,000 eligible candidates were called for jobs in different districts. This year too about 10 lakh candidates have applied for 35,000 posts.

REET 2018 Paper Analysis

According to some of the candidates who have appeared in this year examination, the paper was easy to moderate. Specially, Science, Social Science and question based on Psychology were little tough to solve. REET 2018 Paper I which is meant for Primary teachers have questions from Child development & Pedagogy, Mathematics, Environmental Studies and languages. All these subjects have been assigned equal questions and equal marks. They will have 30 questions with 30 marks. In total, 150 questions are to be solved in 150 minutes.

Similarly, Paper II, which is for Upper Primary Level have about 150 questions and 150 minutes based on Child Development & Pedagogy, Language – 1 (Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi), Language – 2 (Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi), Science & Mathematics OR Social Science. Science & Mathematics OR Social Science have 60 questions with 60 marks.

In Child Development, questions have been asked on Concept of development and its relationship with learning, Child Thinking & thought, concept of inclusive education and understanding children with special needs, important child development & learning theories, learning and pedagogy.

In Language Knowledge, questions were based on Unseen Passage, Basic Grammar, Shabd Upyog, Language Pedagogy. In Environmental Studies sections, questions were asked on Family and Friends, Food & Shelter, Water & Travel, Things We Make and Do, General Science , General studies, Rajasthan Related Question, EVS Pedagogy.

In Social Studies, the questions were based on History, Geography, Social & Political life, Economics & Static GK, Rajasthan Related Question, Social Studies Pedagogy. In Science, questions came from Food & Materials, How things work, Moving Things People and Ideas, Natural Phenomena & Resources, The World of the Living, Pedagogy of Science.

In Mathematics section were asked on Number System & Simplification, Percentage & Ratio, Time, Work, Speed & Distance, Algebra & Mensuration, Geometry, Average, Profit & Loss , Miscellaneous Arithmetic Questions, Pedagogy of Mathematics

REET 2018 Cut-Off Marks

In 2016, cut-off marks for primary teachers was 48.8%. The board will announce the details after announcing the results.

REET 2018 Answer Keys

REET 2018 Answer will be released by the board that may take some time but some of the coaching institutes are likely to share their tentative REET 2018 answers keys soon.
