The online portal to manage Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2018 has been launched on Saturday. As per the details available on the website – jeeadv.ac.in, the will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur ( Kanpur) along with seven zonal IITs on May 20, 2018 in two sessions for three hours each.

These examinations are conducted every year to select students for admission into the Bachelor's, Integrated Master's and Dual Degree programs in all the IITs. JEE Main is conducted for admission to NIT, IIIT, and CFTI (Centrally Funded Technical Institute) while JEE Advanced is an admission test for IITs. An estimate of around 2 Lakh students appear for IIT JEE every year. Other than IITs, there are some institutes who use scores secured by students in JEE Advanced as admission criteria.

As announced in August this year, JEE Advanced 2018 paper will be held in online mode. In this new mode, everything will remain same, except that instead of marking answers in an Optical Mark Reading (OMR) sheet, students would now answer the questions on a computer. This is being done to make logistics and evaluation process easier. Also, many students who appeared for the JEE Advanced 217 exam had to be awarded grace marks after a few of them approached the Supreme Court pointing out that there was an error in the Hindi version of the question paper in Mathematics and Chemistry sections.

As per JAB rule, the performance of a student in this examination will form the basis for admission into undergraduate courses at IITs and other engineering institutes that accept JEE ranking. According to reports in 2017, 1,59,540 took the JEE (Advanced), out of which 50,455 qualified for admissions to IITs.

JEE Advanced 2018 Online Form

As the website has been launched, IIT Kanpur now will function as nodal IIT for Jee Advanced 2018. It will have responsibility for question paper, answer keys, announcement of results and managing JEE portal. So far, brochure and online form for admission have not been released but it is likely to be released soon.
